One of the oldest upholstery businesses in Melbourne, Nouveau Bisgrove Furnishing was established in Hawthorn East in the early 1900’s. Originally known as Richard Bisgrove Art Upholsterer, at 635 Burwood Road, Hawthorn East, the business changed hands and was run by the Moody family before being purchased by Guido Toffoletti and James Hawkins, in the early 1980’s who continued a reputation for quality furniture restoration which continued for another 30 years.

In the 1990’s the business passed onto the next generation and was renamed Nouveau-Bisgrove Furnishing by current owner Denny Toffoletti (Guido Toffoletti’s son). Denny re-built the business with a fresh approach to design and restoration of furniture.

The Business is still a family enterprise, Denny extended the business to include Polishing, his younger brother Eddy Toffoletti is a professional French Polisher / Furniture Restorer. Now together with some involvement from Father Guido the family continue to produce some of the finest quality restoration and upholstery work in the industry.

Nouveau-Bisgrove Furnishing’s showroom is now located in Burwood, at 58-60 Highbury Road, once again all under the one roof, factory and showroom. Here you will be able to speak with staff about, fabric selection, re-upholstery and polishing requirements. Also on display we have some pieces we have restored, cushions, bean bags and antique pieces for sale.

Some of the most iconic institutions and important businesses in Melbourne have turned to Nouveau-Bisgrove Furnishing to upholster their pieces, including St Paul’s Cathedral, Ford Australia, Government House and The Johnstone Collection just to name a few.
